NEWCOLOR.PRG
This uses features of dBase 3+ and therefore will not run under earlier
versions of dBase.
This is a module called newcolor.prg with procedure file newcolor.pro
which is intended to be a simple and intuitive way to set screen colors.
Ordinarily, it would be called as a menu option by the user. Once the
user had chosen 'his' colors, these values would be stored in a memory
file or a .dbf so that, once he had identified himself on next logon, all
applications would present themselves in 'his' choice of colors by means
of a variable setting for color. What you see here merely sets the colors
by running the program from the dot prompt. Alter to suit your needs.
I have seen other color selection programs but found myself unsatisfied
with the screen or the program action, or both. I want to have a color
selection module which is VERY simple and direct, and which relies on the
obvious instead of a multitude of instruction. I have tested this program
on only 3 users:
Subject #1: Has a little computer experience, but hates being
at the keyboard altogether. She actually showed
signs of enjoying picking color combinations from
this program. Needed no coaching.
Subject #2: Barely any computer experience, picked her colors
and understood how to operate the program right
away.
Subject #3: No computer experience, but with answers to a couple
questions ("Where's the key?") was able to select
the colors of her choosing.
I would appreciate your feedback on how obvious or inobvious this program
is to operate, which is my main concern.
